"Well, I'd compare it to..."

Fun fact: I'm an extrovert-in-training

MUN at Clark memory: Watching the Republican debate and the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air after committee at HNMUN

Best class, besides MUN: Just and Unjust Wars with Prof. Butler

What I've learned in the past year: Japan has more than one Ichinomiya

Something I'm proud of: Exploring the upper floors of Jonas Clark Hall

Favorite Korean movie: New World (2013)

Cory is a sophomore at Clark double majoring in Political Science and Asian Studies. Originally from Seoul, South Korea, he now alternates between his unassuming home in rural western Massachusetts and life in Clark’s Maywood Street Hall.

Cory previously served as the crisis manager for the Students for a Democratic Society crisis committee at last fall’s conference and as secretary-general for this past spring’s Worcester Model United Nations, the annual middle school conference jointly organized by MUN at Clark and the United Nations Association of Greater Boston. He founded his high school’s Model UN program in his junior year and led it to delegation awards throughout the region, in the process having some of the most meaningful experiences of his high school career. When he can be dragged away from conference planning, one of his true loves, he is periodically coerced into attending conferences as a delegate himself, now on Clark’s competitive intercollegiate travel team.

Outside of his involvement with MUN at Clark, Cory is the president of the Clark Undergraduate Student Council and the founder and president of the Korean Student Association. He is also the vice president of the Clark International Affairs Society and the content editor for the Scholarly Undergraduate Research Journal. When he happens to be free, Cory enjoys spending an inordinate amount of time talking about Clark’s future (and forgetting his own), watching Korean movies, and not sleeping.

MUN at Clark memory: Brendan's speech about nothing

Best class, besides MUN: Total War to European Union with Prof. McBride

What I've learned in the past year: What I can do when I apply myself

Josh hails from the exotic land of Germany, having left the U.S. Kaiserslautern Military Community to study Political Science and Economics at Clark. This will be his second year here.

Last year Josh was vice chair of the Students for a Democratic Society crisis committee during CUHSMUN VI. He also served as director-general for last spring’s Worcester Model United Nations, the middle school conference that Clark University hosts in conjunction with UNAGB. Josh was the president of his high school Model UN club, attending The Hague International Model UN (THIMUN) as a delegate in the Security Council. As a Clark delegate, Josh has attended four conferences, ranging from McMUN in Montréal to HNMUN in Boston.

When he's not focusing on Model UN, Josh keeps busy as the vice president of the Clark Undergraduate Student Council. This position also entails being the chair of the Campus Programming Board and the treasurer of the Student Sustainability Fund at Clark. Josh works closely with Cory in both Model UN and Student Council, thinking of ways to improve Clark—the two became roommates this year to cut down on commute times.

Something I'm proud of: My involvement with MUN at Clark and the Student Council

Uncommon hobby: Building computers

MUN at Clark memory: The rise of the proud nation of Pashtunistan

Best class, besides MUN: Advanced Algorithmic Design and Analysis with Prof. Han

What I've learned in the past year: Just how little I actually know

Brendan is a junior at Clark double majoring in Computer Science and International Relations with a minor in Mathematics. Coming all the way from frigid Michigan, he has since moved to the slightly warmer pastures of Massachusetts, though his true home remains Clark’s Goddard Library.

When not dealing with his academic requirements, Brendan can normally be found dedicating his time to Clark’s Model United Nations team. Currently serving as one of the team’s head delegates he is committed to expanding the program and maintaining Clark’s consistently excellent competitive record.

Outside of MUN at Clark, Brendan is the vice president of Clark’s Competitive Computing Club (C4), a member of The Scarlet, Clark’s student-run newspaper, as well as a member of Clark’s branch of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). In the few moments that Brendan is not tied down by either academic or extracurricular activities he can be found either in the swimming pool or immersed in a good book.

Something I'm proud of: Having two members of Clark's team on last year's MUN All-Star list

Favorite book: Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut

Corie is currently a senior at Clark majoring in International Development and Social Change with a minor in Political Science and a concentration in Latin American and Latino Studies. She has attended the six previous CUHSMUNs as a delegate, chair, under-secretary-general, and secretary-general. ClarkMUN VII marks her last high school conference at Clark which breaks her heart just a little.

Corie is excited to be back in Worcester after her semester abroad in Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. This semester she is continuing in her role as one of the head delegates of the travel team. Because Model UN is the reason she came to Clark, she commits much of her time to the team in its pursuit of commendable rankings. To her, the MUN team has become a family and she looks forward to watching it grow.

Apart from Model UN, Corie is very involved with the Worcester community. First and foremost she supports local business by eating her share of pupusas from Hacienda Don Juan. Corie also works as the community liaison for the Latin American Students Organization at Clark and volunteers at Pernet Family Health Service as a mentor for at risk youth and as an ESL tutor. She spent her summer interning at Ascentria Care Alliance where she worked alongside immigrant populations in Worcester and researched the role of the community-based nonprofit in sensitive legal areas like immigration. In her free time, Corie enjoys hiking and reading about Oscar Romero.
